The SAT is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the U.S. It assesses skills in Reading, Writing & Language, and Math to evaluate your readiness for college.
The total test time is about 3 hours (plus an additional 50 minutes if you choose to take the optional Essay section).
The SAT has three main sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (Reading + Writing & Language) Math (with Calculator and No Calculator parts) Optional Essay (some colleges require it)
Scores range from 400 to 1600, combining: 200–800 for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 200–800 for Math The Essay is scored separately on three dimensions (Reading, Analysis, Writing) from 2 to 8.
Most students take the SAT during their junior or senior year of high school. Check College Board’s official test dates and plan to register early.
You can take the SAT up to once per month, with a maximum of seven times per year.
Yes. You can send scores to up to four colleges for free when you register or after your test. Additional score reports require a fee.
