CELPIP, or the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program, is a standardized English language test designed for individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada or work in a Canadian organization. The test assesses the language skills of candidates in four areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. CELPIP is recognized by the Canadian government as a language proficiency requirement for immigration to Canada and is also accepted by many Canadian organizations and institutions for job or study purposes.
CELPIP is available in two versions: CELPIP-General and CELPIP-General LS. The CELPIP-General test is for individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and assesses the general language skills, whereas the CELPIP-General LS is for individuals who wish to work in a specific field such as healthcare, law, or engineering and assesses their language skills related to their field. The test is computer-based, with the speaking and listening sections being done in person at a test center. Results are usually available within 10-12 business days of the test date.
